a good start

Look at that, it took just two days and I have another post. Am I not rocketing, or what?  Haha. Kidding aside, I am just really in the mood for blogging.

And by the way, thanks to Abby, Lamielle, and Sterndal. I didn’t expect that I will get responses that fast. Thanks for still following this blog even if it was dormant for months.

Anyway, one of the things that contribute to my good mood right now is the writing jobs I am getting. Last week, I applied to three writing jobs at Odesk and I am glad that from these three applications, I got one contract that pays 7$/hr. The job entails editing so that’s quite easy and I am really happy with the tasks I am assigned with.  This week, I applied to another three writing jobs and from these three applications; I got one job and another one under negotiation.  The job I got pays 10$/hr (which is soooo great!) but I got my task just now (I will start tomorrow with it) and it looks like this will whack my brains out. It is not just writing but also managing an online shopping website as a whole.  I am not really sure if I can do that.

The one under negotiation is another difficult one. It is mentioned on the job posting that the buyer needs a blog content writer. It was not mentioned there what the topics will be. When they emailed me (interview), I learned that the buyer is a law firm so I imagine a lot of technical and legal writing which will entail a lot of research. The buyer wants to hire me for 7$/hr but I am insisting on my offered rate of 10$/hr. I really don’t know what I feel about the job. Quite frankly, it wouldn’t hurt me at all if they don’t accept my offer because I am anyhow not sure if can do what they are asking me to do.

Right now, I am happy that I got two jobs. Each one of which requires 6hrs/week so that would mean around 100$/week. It’s not a lot but it’s a good start. I will still be applying for other jobs as I want to allot 30hrs/week for my freelance writing and 5hrs/week for my personal blogs.  I hope that in the end of every month, I will reach my target.

I am still crossing my fingers.
