The sun is shining all over Austria on this pleasant Monday morning. This might be contributing to the good mood I have today, but I think my mood is mainly getting the boost from the Odesk notification I got this morning. Last week has got to be my best freelancing week at Odesk ever and here is why:
50$ more and I could have reached my weekly target of 250$! I am so happy that I seem to be getting closer to my target each week. I wonder what this week will bring me. I mean, I was only able to reach 200$ because I got a 50$ bonus so it will be difficult for me to top that this week.
In other news, I got accepted to the TheContentAuthority and ReviewStream last week. I have not written for any of them yet (except for the required acceptance article for each site) as I have seen how low the offers are especially for RS. But all the same, I am glad. I have TCA to keep me busy if there are no tasks from my employers at Odesk. I don’t know about RS. RS is supposed to pay 1.50-2.10$ (depends on their rate at a given time) for every review but if you review something that is not in their criteria, they will just offer you an unacceptable payment of 0.10$! Who wants that?
Freelancing at Odesk is my main gig right now, all the rest are just back up. I hope that the tasks from my employers at Odesk will continue pouring in so I can have a more steady income from my freelancing ventures.

Hi Vienna,
I have been following your write-ups, well, your blog regarding your virtual / online job with Odesk. I must say that you really inspire me to get a MOVE now of what I have been planning to start long time back – take online jobs!
I’m not just sure regarding the price range that I have to set for myself as a starter viewable by employers. Do you have any idea how much should a starter should set for her price? Really appreciate your feedback.
Thanks for keeping this blog.
Have a wonderful day,
Lourdes
Hello Lourdes, thanks for dropping by and thanks for your comment.
Here’s my advice, for the beginning, you can set a rate @3$/hr. You can change that later on after you’ve gained some nice feedbacks from employers. If you want to gain feedbacks faster, I suggest you apply for fixed priced jobs. Most of them pay really low but they are quick to accomplish and that means, you will also get your feedback sooner. once you have a couple of nice feedbacks, you can increase your hourly rate and you can apply for better paying jobs.
if you have a day job, don’t quit it just yet. continue your day job and just try to make Odesk as a side job first. once you are comfortable with the way things go there (Odesk) then you can quit your job. You can also wait until you are comfortable with what you are earning from Odesk desk before you quit your job (that’s the ideal way) but unless you focus on Odesk, you will never really know how much you’ll earn.
It’s a bit of a gamble so unless you are well covered financially, I suggest you wait until you have a decent flow of income from Odesk before you quit your job.
I hope this helps.
Thanks Vienna for the info. Sure this will help.
Btw, congrats on your baby and you, to be a mother soon
I’l add you up in my humble blog
